Today, the kids did so well. It’s difficult to leave, but I’m really excited to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I videotaped the kids performing for the Thiiri staff today, so I hope to post that while I’m at a faster internet connection in Nairobi. They played “Wish I Had a Monkey,” “Ice Cream __ Cone,” and “Run Pony” on an A Major Scale and also on Twinkle. One boy had started playing this morning at 9am, and was performing all of this by noon… and doing a good job of it too. Amazing!
Tomorrow, I leave at 5:30am for Nairobi. I will arrive at my hotel at around 11am, then walk to the fru-fru shi-shi shopping center, where I am just HOPING they have all the gear I need for the hike. I know they don’t have gloves, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to find gloves at the hotel in Tanzania at the base of the mountain. I just hope I can find hiking boots and then wear them for a few days to break them in. The store had them in stock yesterday afternoon, so I should be okay. But you just never know.
On Saturday, I start hiking!
