I haven’t gotten used to how people close conversations on the phone in Kenya. They kind of trail off, without a “goodbye” or even “ok” or “mmm,” like they do in Korea. They just say something like, “Call me when you find out your schedule.” And then there’s a pause. And then I say something like, “Okay, I’ll do that.” But in the middle of my sentence, I hear a beep, and it’s only then that I realize that the conversation was over before I realized it.
On the other hand, there are times when I’ve waited, thinking that the conversation was over, and then the person starts talking again.
I don’t get it yet!
