Getting settled in Kenya

I’m starting to settle into things. Having the entire day off to do whatever I wanted was a really good way for me to feel like myself again. After the first day, when I felt as though I had to negotiate a bit of inter-school politics, I was more than overwhelmed. But now, I feel like I am finding my stride.

After swimming, practicing, reading, and hanging out with the employees at the Thiiri Centre, I feel like myself for the first time since I arrived in Kenya. I even taught some swing dance tonight. It was nice to DANCE!

I hope this feeling of confidence and being settled lasts as I go to the school on Monday to teach the kids. As I said, there is a bit of politics to navigate, but hopefully that won’t get too much in the way of teaching the kids. The politics is a reality, but nothing insurmountable.
